Visit either the Brooklyn Museum or MoMA.  Write a paragraph or two giving your impressions of the show.  Would you like some extra credit?  expand your thoughts and write a couple of pages.  Or visit both.  Both Museums are free with CUNY id and free on Fridays.  Both Museums are closed on Tuesday.  See the links above for more information.  Send your responses to me by email before December 22nd.  You can attach a word file or paste it into the email itself.

What are you advertising?  You are advertising yourself, not a corporation!  Think of who you will be when you reach your ultimate potential! Do you see yourself as an artist? a business person? a rock star?  this is your brand vision.  it can be who you are now or who you aspire to be.

Assignment:

1. create a brand statement (1 to 3 sentences.  if you are stuck use a sentence that starts with “I am” such as “I am a photographer”)  a sentence that simple fulfills the brand statement

2. doodle! create a page of doodles for your logo (not finished drawings) when you doodle, you are still considering lots of options.  It would be best to have your doodles as digital files when you come to class on wednesday.

Visit MOMA  (you can find a travel google map on the second page of this blog)   MOMA is free on friday, and free with your CUNY (BMCC) student ID.

Write a 1 page review – your personal responses and views on the artwork- and bring it to class on the 14th.  DO NOT PRINT IT.   Bring it saved as a word file on your thumb drive.  DON’T EMAIL IT TO  YOURSELF OR SAVE IT ON YOUR PHONE– this makes it harder to share files. (we will work together to lay out the magazine).   DON’T USE A WORD PROCESSOR OTHER THAN WORD– (.doc or .docx) other writing programs do not play nice with IN DESIGN.

Bring 2 pictures that relate to your review.  I’m all for sneaking photos.   – these should also be saved on your thumb drive, not emailed to yourself.

Make sure you have these items for class on the 14th.  If you don’t it means you will be laying out my writing, which is boring for you, means a bad grade, and means you won’t be included in the magazine.
